These mills are actually made up of separate and independent parts so all the attachments can be interchanged and used on either the Hand Base or Motorized Base. You should have the "Grain Mill" with the "Hand-Turn Base" as a minimum.
Because of its low cost, the Motorized Base will make milling easy and if you plan on expanding with the other attachments, the motor is almost a must (and because of its low price it is very affordable).

The Grain Mill will work on both the hand and motorized base. It will not produce dust. It is easy to adjust the consistency with a turn of the knob. Includes a large 5 cup hopper. Very quiet grinding (one of the quietest available). Low temperature frictionless milling and is easy to clean. The hardened steel grinding cones in the grain mill will grind hard kernels of grain into fine flour, or you can easily change the setting to a coarse meal and anything in between. The Grain Mill will grind: wheat, rye, barley, corn (not popcorn), spelt, buckwheat, millet, oats, rice, sesame seeds, spices, and dried herbs.

All the attachments go on and remove easily.
The Grain Mill Attachment milled a variety of grain with smooth operation which other mills failed to do. The Flaker really flaked what ever I put through it (it was fun to see what it did to the variety of grain and seed I had). I personally feel that the
Vegetable Slicer beat my Salad Shooter with speed and thorough slicing and grating of items from soft cheese to hard vegetables. All the attachments I tried were with the hand-turned base to see how the attachments really work and I was very impressed.
